MLB Preview

Posted by msgpdr on April 1, 2008

Neeedless to say, I am super excited about the upcoming major league season.  I am a SF Giants fan, but have also adopted my current hometown Mariners.  Who would not be excited to see two teams with #4 hitters named Bengie Molina and Richie (0.205) Sexson.  Wow!

The starting pitching for the Giants is also solid — Lincecum, Cain, and and anchored by former AL Cy Young winner, Barry Zito.  Sure, he stunk yesterday throwing in the 80s, and Dodger batters only swung and missed 4 times in 87 pitches, but you know that for $136M, Barry will bring it. (OK, honestly, I would prefer Zito from Miami Vice to Barry, he was worth a laugh….)

Out in the field, the Giants have Ortmeier, Bocock, Lewis and Davis (unfortunately, Frandsen must have been sent down), which reminds me of the unknown youngsters in the Francis Ford Coppola film — The Outsiders.  This Giants team could be the baseball version of Cruise, Lowe, Swayze, Dillon.  Then again, it will probably be more C Thomas Howell and Leif Garrett.  At this point, I would settle for Ralph Macchio.

Well, I could go on for all 30 MLB teams, but seeing that my idol DJ Gallo already wrote much better than I would have what I thought, I will link you to his AL and NL previews.  LOL funny!

Back later with more March Bitterness!

Giants. Hate em. Always have. Since the days of McCovey, Bobby Bonds, Marichal, even the last days of Mays. Dodgers may finally have something again this year :) 2-0!

And I still haven’t fully recovered from getting drafted by the Giants in little league when I was 11 years old. Devastating.

Frandsen was not sent down. He blew his Achilles. Done for the year. This way Durham and his healthy hammy can get more playing time
