As we all frantically analyze the upcoming Final Four, I came across another rather amazing story of proliferation and waste.
Do you recall Kenny Anderson? Considered at the time of his high school graduation the best schoolboy hoopster to come from NY City since Lew Alcindor (Kareem). [Of course, considering he was followed by Stephon Marbury and later Sebastian Telfair, I question NY's ability to create points, but that is another column.] Anyway, Kenny spent a year at Georgia Tech, making it to the Final Four, before embarking on an NBA odyssey of 7 teams and 14 years.
But what was impressive was that during his career he managed to have 7 kids with 3 women (hence his own wing in the Shawn Kemp HOF), and earn $60M. Yet, in 2005 he filed for bankruptcy. This would make him, in the words of my valley corresopndent P-Dub, worthy of the Mike Tyson HOF too, as Mike supposedly blew $100M. [Note - if Kenny paid even $30M in taxes, and blew $1.5M a year + some child support, he still should have $5M+ left over. So good for you Kenny, exceeding expectations on all fronts.]
I am not positive, but Kenny could be the first to have a branch in the Kemp and Tyson Halls; kind of like Bo Jackson, in a parallel universe.
